At HP's own HP Discover event in Barcelona, Spain, the company announced new and expanded offerings for the Hybrid Cloud.
HP is one of the few vendors uniquely aligned as a total-solutions provide for Cloud offerings, providing both the hardware and software stacks. Companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon can only offer the software piece, but HP is positioned to provide the entire answer to public, private, and hybrid Cloud business needs. A 30-year, collaborative partnership with Microsoft also enables HP to take advantage of integrated pieces to round out the management and monitoring for those companies invested in Microsoft System Center suite. System Center is installed in roughly 75 percent of enterprises.
In the past, companies were consigned to do their own research and piece together they own Cloud solutions, but HP's integrated and convergent offerings eliminates much of the time, cost, and resources required to build a Cloud infrastructure. Companies interested in implementing turnkey Cloud solutions can look no further to what HP is offering.
Here's what HP announced this week at HP Discover:
- HP's private cloud solution, the HP CloudSystem, is the foundation for its hybrid cloud strategy. The latest version of CloudSystem integrates is built to integrate with HP's Cloud OS technology. This makes the private cloud scalable and efficient, enabling companies to deploy Cloud services in minutes. In 2014, HP will reveal two different versions of its CloudSystem: HP CloudSystem Foundation and HP CloudSystem Enterprise.
- To support customer enablement, HP is providing a Hybrid Cloud Design Professional Services. This consulting organization (available now) gives companies the opportunity to take advantage of expert knowledge and help for architecting and building a Cloud solution based directly on the business requirements.
- Self-service is a big piece of a successful Cloud implementation. HP knows that and has provided and updated version of HP Managed Virtual Private Cloud, but also a brand new HP Public Cloud VPC offering. Both offerings are available now.
- HP is seeking to simplify the Cloud even further by releasing the HP Hybrid Cloud Management Platform. This new platform, launching in January 2014, pulls together HP's cloud management software, the HP Cloud Services Automation, and HP's own OpenStack-based Cloud OS. This will enable companies to manage both current and traditional IT systems and new Cloud systems all within a single, re-envisioned portal.
